Large Field Reported on Fire in Sadsbury Township
By Career Staff EMT Kriss Salinsky

On Sunday March 30th, 2008, while members of the surrounding fire companies were attending a Rapid Intervention Training, the Pomeroy Fire Company in conjunction with the Sadsburyville Fire Company were dispatched to Holstein Drive for a reported field on fire. Reports from the passerby Sadsbury Township Police Sergeant Gerry Ranck stated the fire was spreading at a rapid speed.

Sadsburyville, Fire Chief Supplee arrived, and established Holstein Drive Command. Chief Supplee advised approximately one acre of field on fire; Chief Supplee requested additional resources in the form of a brush truck. The Westwood Fire Company, made a quick response with Tac 44.

Due to quick efforts of fire fighters, the fire did not spread to close-by houses and was contained to only the field in the original report. Holstein Drive Command placed the fire under control and placed units available from the scene a short time later. Pictures provided by EMT K.
